Description
While some would lament the passing of Summer and the arrival of Autumn, I openly embrace brightly colored leaves, October baseball and the sight of footballs arching through the air. This weekend was no exception with chilly mornings daring you to leave the window open at night and warm afternoon sun that turns your well-worn sweatshirt in to your very own personal electric blanket.
Saturday morning we ran Sadie down to PetCo for a bath, nail trim, and various other treatments to mitigate the variety of smells and odors a hyperactive black lab can accumulate through the summer. I did however opt out of the milk bath, despite having the options between vanilla and strawberry milk. Never mind the preposterous nature of bathing a dog in a dairy product on any regular day, but have you seen the price of milk lately? While Sadie got her extreme makeover, the rest of the family went up to the school for Maddie’s third game of the MYA Soccer season. She had a great day, scoring three goals and has post score dance moves that would make Terrell Owens or Chad Johnson blush. I half expected her to whip out the sharpie and autograph the ball. I can’t wait to see what she does next week.
Sunday, the girls played at Auntie Kimmy’s house while Christy and I went to Parlee Farms in Chelmsford, MA. We’re planning a Family Socials outing for Merrimack Friends & Families there in two weeks and wanted to check it out ahead of time. The maze wasn’t quite what we expected, as it was more of a hay, grass, and corn maze, but the end result was still the same, we got mighty lost.
The weekend wrapped up quite nicely too with the Boston Red Sox clincing the American League East division for the first time in twelve years. Given that we stand to get about a thousand dollars back on our Jordan’s Furniture purchases early this spring, we’re both rooting pretty hard for another World Series.
